Hi - my name is Rubi.
I just wanted to write a thank you note to Freeze Sleeve for helping me continue my recovery over the last year or so.
I'm a wife and mother of 4 beautiful children, ages 13 to 8 years old. Needless to say it is busy at home, like every other household in America.
In late 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and everything I loved to do physically ground to a halt.
Tough Mudder(s), Taido karate, trail running, organized running events, etc. All of my energy was focused on fighting cancer, while still trying to be a mom in an active household.
The surgeries, doctor appointments, the unknown and the waiting were hard enough, but not being able to do the physical activities that kept me feeling whole, was a big part of my battle with cancer as well.
By the grace of God, and with many prayers answered, in late 2016, I was granted permission to resume all physical activities, as I was cancer free.
Of course, with almost a year off, as I started running again, doing Taido karate, and training for a Tough Mudder, I soon realized my knees were not happy at all.
So here I am, literally giddy to get back to what I love to do in my limited spare time, as a mother of 4, and my knees disagree. Seriously?
A different kind of recovery...
During this time, I was gifted a pair of pink Freeze Sleeves for my knees, and it changed my ability to continue to train within days. I'd run 6-7 miles or go to Taido karate class and then just slip on my Freeze Sleeves when I got home (sometimes during carpool). I'd slip them on again when I went to bed and just fall asleep with them on.
Within days, my knees were feeling normal again.
It's now part of my daily post work out recovery, but it means so much more knowing where I was in late 2015, both physically and mentally.
In April 2017, I completed my 2nd Tough Mudder. And just last week, I earned my 1st degree Black Belt in Taido Karate after 6 grueling weeks of training and a 5 hour test.
Today, recovery means I can go do the things I love to do again. Thank you Freeze Sleeve for helping me along...I'm very grateful.
